A Harrisburg man has been charged with stealing a vehicle from a Budget Car Rental location in Lower Paxton Township.
Nassir Frost, 23, was charged with a single felony count of theft of leased property on March 19 after an investigation by Lower Paxton Township Police.
Authorities were dispatched to the rental company, located on the 4600 block of Jonestown Road, shortly after 2 p.m. on March 19 after being contacted by an employee there.
The witness said Frost, whom she knew from previous rental transactions at the company, was three weeks behind on rental payments for a 2025 Chevrolet Trax.
She told police her company was about to report the vehicle stolen when Frost "randomly" showed up at the business, where he allegedly began an argument because he wished to extend the rental by another three weeks but refused to pay the overdue balance and would not pay up front for a rental extension.
When told he either had to pay the outstanding balance or return the vehicle, Frost allegedly grabbed the keys from the counter, fled to the rental vehicle, and drove off, the witness reported.
Police were able to use traffic camera footage to locate the rental vehicle in Swatara Township, where police made a traffic stop. Frost was taken into custody, police said.
He allegedly admitted to arguing with the rental company employee but denied stealing the vehicle, claiming it was still in his name, according to police.
Frost is being held in Dauphin County Prison after failing to post bail of $25,000, according to court records.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 9.
