A Miami woman was arrested after she allegedly left her 3-year-old daughter alone inside a car while she exercised in a gym, authorities said.

Iranique Nyesha Martin, 38, was arrested Saturday on a charge of child neglect with no great bodily harm, an arrest report said.

The alleged incident happened at the Crunch Fitness at 1970 Northwest 117th Place in Sweetwater.

According to the report, a witness approached an officer and said that as he was leaving the gym, he saw a child unattended inside a white Honda Accord that had its engine running in the parking lot.

The witness said a day earlier, on Friday, he also saw the car parked outside the gym with a child unattended inside, the report said.

The officer saw Martin leaving the gym and walking toward the car so the officer asked if she'd been in the gym and she said she was using the restroom, the report said.

Martin opened the car and her 3-year-old daughter was inside in the back seat, the report said.

Surveillance video showed Martin had entered the gym about an hour earlier, and it was determined she was inside exercising and showering, the report said.

"Due to the child's age and inability to care for itself, this exposed the child to an unreasonable risk of harm and constitutes child neglect," the officer wrote in the report.

Martin was arrested and booked into jail, and the child's father was called and took custody of her, the report said.
